No. Detection, beeps, and today's stats are unlimited and forever free. The free tier just doesn't show history older than 7 days. We want the core safety/awareness function to be free for anyone who needs it.
We considered both. Subscription means we can keep iterating on the detector, ship platform updates (macOS/Windows/MediaPipe rev), and respond to bug reports without having to constantly re-acquire users. $24/year is intentionally on the low end for indie Mac utilities.
Detection, beeps, and the last 7 days of history keep working — exactly as the free tier. We don't hold your data hostage. Your event log stays on your computer.

Yes — it's a planned v2 feature, opt-in, with deposits routed to a 501(c)(3) charity rather than to us. It's not shipping until a licensed clinician has reviewed the mechanics, because commitment-device features can be inappropriate for users with body-focused repetitive behaviors. Yes — same price ($24/year) as the direct version. Apple takes a cut on App Store purchases; we eat that rather than charging App Store users more.
